This "ordinary" dress humbled me with its surprisingly challenging elements; the gathered-at-waist-only bodice, the drape of the self-faced skirt panels, and Aerith's miracle hem lace that shows no glue or stitching through an unlined skirt (?!). This was definitely a dress not designed by anyone sews, but I made it work! I self patterned everything and carefully planned out the lace appliques over several drape sessions, ultimately using HeatnBond to avoid visible adherence. This was also my first time hotfixing crystals and was the most therapeutic part after so much trial-and-error. The faux leather belt was made from scratch, and I spent ages sourcing materials for her jewelry and perfectly color-matching the shoes to the fabric with my paint job.
