About Jade

Heya! I'm Jade Hime (pronounced "hee-may," Japanese for "princess") and I've been cosplaying since 2017.
In my early years, I worked primarily with purchased costume bases that I heavily modified for accuracy, fit, and quality. I love honing in on fine details and pride myself on my color-matching abilities. Even more than that, I shine in my research - I'll spend hours, days, sometimes months (or years...) hunting for the perfect materials before I'm satisfied. Settling doesn't come easy to me, but that drive pushes me to create better and better costumes.
Around 2020, I began experiencing significant health declines, and by 2021, I was officially chronically disabled/ill. The few costumes I managed during those years were a massive struggle, and I eventually took a break to focus on my health. By 2024, though still disabled, I came back stronger than ever with a focus on crafting cosplays entirely from scratch.
Outside of cosplay, I'm primarily a gamer. I love a wide variety of video games - from BioShock to Super Mario - and I often gravitate toward video game characters for cosplay inspiration. My favorite series include Nintendo franchises (Mario, Zelda), Sega franchises (Sonic the Hedgehog, Persona), and Square Enix series (Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts). Some of my favorite characters to cosplay are Princess Peach, Amy Rose, and Hatsune Miku.
My garment-making experience only amounts to a couple of years, but my passion for the craft is what brought me back to the hobby. I absolutely live to cosplay; there's not a day that goes by where I don't think about it. Needless to say, I'm totally addicted and couldn't be happier about it!
While I do almost everything myself, I'm lucky to have help from my long-term partner. She occasionally assists with wigs and props, and always handles my photography. Together, we share a joint hobby in cosplay photography; she shoots, I edit.
You can find me primarily on Instagram, where I frequently post updates on my latest projects. Down the line, I hope to open up opportunities to sell and share my own patterns and tutorials to help out fellow cosplayers.
